PA 87
General Comments:
PA 87 is fantastic motorcycle touring road. It offers plenty of gorgeous scenery and plenty of mostly gentle curves. PA 87 is 65+ miles of motorcycle touring enjoyment for everyone! As is the case with every road I highlight – the traffic is light and the (legally required) stops are few and far between!

Directions:
Starting in Williamsport – PA 87 begins at Exit#21 on US180. The directions are simple….stay on it until it ends at US 6 near Tunkhannock – easy !
Detailed Notes:
Unlike so many other PA state roads that I single-out as great motorcycle touring roads – this one is relatively consistent from beginning to end as far as the road conditions and the terrain.

For most of the first 20-25 miles it basically hugs the banks of the Loyalsock creek, at times you will ride along shear rock walls and there are sections that are fairly wide open. From Forksville on – its more valley riding with gentle hills and curves. Although this road offers plenty of curve and sweeper action – there are no real tight spots at all. I think PA 87 hits the perfect balance of being a fun ride – without being at all ”technical” or challenging in any way. It can be enjoyed at a moderate or a healthy ’sporting pace’. I recommend hitting this one early in the morning on a weekend so you can have it all to yourself . This road is secluded – but not as secluded as PA 44. The most inviting place to stop for a rest, food and fuel IMHO is Forksville which is also noted in the Williamsport Loop (#1) route. You can also see what others have to say about this road on MotorcycleRoads.us.

A really cool (private) suspension walking bridge over the Loyalsock Creek
