PA 45

The topography of Pennsylvania lends itself to two distinct types of secondary (non-interstate) highways - mountain roads  and valley roads.  Mountain roads traverse the numerous long mountain ridges that cut a curved diagonal across the state - these  generally have a North/South tac which dictates the mountaing climbing necessity.  As a result - they offer [...]

PA 655

PA 655 is one of my favorites - it is a pleasure to ride from start to finish, offering over 90 miles of enjoyment.  In order to qualify as a great motorcycle road (IMHO), it must be relatively free of traffic, stop lights, stop signs, driveways and intersections.  While PA655 does have a few stop [...]

Burnt Cabins Loop

General Notes: This route offers 160 miles of the great motorcycle roads in Fulton and Huntington Counties.  The roads on this route were selected based on their abundance of curves and ever changing, but always gorgeous scenery - so the fun factor on this one is high.

PA 87

General Comments:
PA 87 is fantastic motorcycle touring road. It offers plenty of gorgeous scenery and plenty of mostly gentle curves.   PA 87 is 65+ miles of motorcycle touring enjoyment for everyone! As is the case with every road I highlight - the traffic is light and the (legally required) stops are few and far between! [...]

The Williamsport Loop (#1)

General Comments:
This 150+ mile route takes you in a circle just North of Williamsport - an area that (IMHO) is one of the very best motorcycle road hunting grounds anywhere in Pennsylvania.  There are many great roads in this area and I will blog about them in the future, (Lord willing) which explains the  “(#1) ” in the [...]

PA 233

50 miles of road that is relatively free of traffic, stop lights, etc.
General Notes:
PA 233, like so many other PA state roads, has multiple personalities.  It consists of varied pavement types and quality - and it offers plenty of curves,  a few tight corners and a good measure of mountain climbing too.  This road meets [...]

Best Value Road: PA 44

If someone asked me what one road is the single best “value” of all the roads in Pennsylvania – I would answer “PA 44” without reservation or hesitation. The reasons are many:

Between Jersey Shore and Coudersport - it offers 60+ miles without even one stop sign and almost no driveways or intersections to speak-of;
Much of [...]

INTRO to Motorcycle Touring in PA

by Brad Morgan
Where I like to ride
Pennsylvania is one of the better states to live for a motorcycle riding enthusiast.  Its rugged terrain, vast forest land, and over 120,000 miles of paved roads provide an endless supply of worthy two-wheeled tours.
In my opinion, the real “sweet spot” for the best riding experiences can be found [...]
