Almost as Tall as Jack’s Beanstalk!

When I planted my sunflowers in the spring, I had no idea that two of them would end up being 12 feet tall. The stock is about 4.5 inches around and their height dwarfs the other sunflowers that they are growing by.

US 6 – The Grand Army Of The Republic Highway

US 6 cuts across the Northern tier of Pennsylvania, offering 290 miles of  pleasurable, scenic riding for the entire route.  The road is in great condition and traffic is generally light – particularly in the mid-section.  There are plenty of open spaces for passing when needed.  Throughout the entire route, US 6 offers many gentle curves, a few [...]

PA 666

This road has been described by other riders as providing twists, curves and elevation changes. I found it to be quite tame actually – there are only a few corners that I would label as ‘tight’ as it gently winds its way along through the forest as it hugs the banks of the Tionesta Creek. It’s never boring because it is full of (mostly gentile) curves and it surrounds you with the spectacular scenery of the heart of the Allegheny National Forest almost from beginning to end. I recommend it if you find yourself in the area.

A Snake Encounter near Coudersport

A friend and I were returning from a trip to Coudersport last Summer, using back roads. We saw this guy stretched across a dirt road just north of Shawville, in Clearfield County. I did swerve to miss it, however, I may have nipped it’s tail. I stopped and backed up, and he was ready for [...]
