US 6 cuts across the Northern tier of Pennsylvania, offering 290 miles of pleasurable, scenic riding for the entire route. The road is in great condition and traffic is generally light – particularly in the mid-section. There are plenty of open spaces for passing when needed. Throughout the entire route, US 6 offers many gentle curves, a [...]

This road has been described by other riders as providing twists, curves and elevation changes. I found it to be quite tame actually – there are only a few corners that I would label as ‘tight’ as it gently winds its way along through the forest as it hugs the banks of the Tionesta Creek. It’s never boring because it is full of (mostly gentile) curves and it surrounds you with the spectacular scenery of the heart of the Allegheny National Forest almost from beginning to end. I recommend it if you find yourself in the area.

Few roads seem to generate the amount of “buz” around the motorcycle riding enthusiast community in Pennsylvania as PA 125. If you spend some time at the MotorcycleRoads.US site and the MotorcycleRoads.COM site – you will notice that this road seems to produce more enthusiastic comments and ‘chatter’ than any other road in Pa. [...]

Allegheny Plateau Tour 1 General Notes: View Larger Map This 180+ mile ride is a loop around and through the Elk State Forest area between Clearfield and Smethport. This entire region is fertile ground for motorcycle road hunting! There really aren’t any roads here that are lacking in scenery or some degree of fun factor [...]

The topography of Pennsylvania lends itself to two distinct types of secondary (non-interstate) highways – mountain roads and valley roads. Mountain roads traverse the numerous long mountain ridges that cut a curved diagonal across the state – these generally have a North/South tac which dictates the mountain climbing necessity. As a result – they offer [...]

PA 655 is one of my favorites – it is a pleasure to ride from start to finish, offering over 90 miles of enjoyment. In order to qualify as a great motorcycle road (IMHO), it must be relatively free of traffic, stop lights, stop signs, driveways and intersections. While PA655 does have a few stop [...]

General Comments: PA 87 is fantastic motorcycle touring road. It offers plenty of gorgeous scenery and plenty of mostly gentle curves. PA 87 is 65+ miles of motorcycle touring enjoyment for everyone!
