For the past several years we have been going to our cabin in Hillsgrove, Sullivan Co. We enjoy swimming and playing in the Hoagland Creek, watching wildlife from our porch and kayaking on the Loyalsock. At the end of the week we attend the Little League World Series in Williamsport. We always have a great time.

Mid State Trail railroad tunnel in Poe Valley

My husband belongs to a rod-and-gun club. The club’s cabin is in the Poe Valley region of Bald Eagle State Forest in Center County. We have walked the nearby trails many times but each walk has its own surprises. As the Mid State Trail passes through the Penns Creek Wild Area it enters an old railroad tunnel. A thunderstorm had just rolled through Poe Valley and the warm summer air was meeting the cool air from the tunnel.

It was a hot one today so we sent for a stroll at nearby and cool French Creek.  The kids were cooling off from this high cliff.  Note the young man in the second pic at top.  He jumped into the cool pool below.  Some guys have all of the fun.
